There is not a place you can go, in this day and age, where you don’t see somebody aged 2 and counting using some form of technology. Typically, this is an app on an iPad or a cell phone, but this may be too high for students with multiple disabilities. Apps can be used, but sometimes finding ones that are both age and developmentally appropriate can be a challenge. Toys can also be included in the area of technology – but toys that are age appropriate may not meet the students where they are developmentally, so adaptations may need to be made. Depending on the form of communication, low tech. or high tech. can be introduced. This presentation will look at the use of technology with students that have multiple disabilities.
