The goal of the outreach services department at the American Printing House for the Blind is to increase awareness about the many products and services offered by APH. These include but are not limited to the following: distance learning and statewide/nationwide training opportunities; exhibits and presentations at regional, statewide and national conferences; expanded core curriculum academies/professional learning communities; and parent and family training opportunities. We built a learning management system, the APH Hive, and are hiring regional liaisons, to meet this goal. Learn how APH is making this happen. Ms. Leanne Grillot directs the operations of APH’s Outreach Services Department. Outreach Services links APH with educational practice in the field of vision and promotes sound models of best practice. Ms. Grillot’s responsibilities include serving as an APH ambassador for the Federal Quota Program, participating in key partnerships, and delivering presentations across the country. She developed the vision for APH’s Learning Management System, an accessible online repository of multimedia content supporting the professional learning needs of teachers working with APH products in classrooms with students who are blind and visually impaired. Ms. Grillot also serves as liaison with APH’s two standing Advisory Committees and administers the Act to Promote the Education of the Blind. Amy Campbell has been in the field of visual impairment for over 20 years, servicing students as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired and also statewide Educational Consultant. As APH’s Learning Management System Administrator, she is responsible for building, organization, and upkeep of the new APH Hive.
