There is not a place you can go, in this day and age, that you don’t see somebody aged 2 and counting using some form of technology. Typically, this is seen as an app. on an iPad or a cell phone, but this may be to high for students with multiple disabilities. Apps can be used, but sometimes finding ones that are both age and developmentally appropriate can be a challenge. Toys can also be included in the area of technology – but toys that are age appropriate may not meet the student where they are developmentally, so adaptations may need to be made. Depending on the form of communication – low tech. or high tech. can be observed. This presentation will look at the use of technology with students that have multiple disabilities.
